The Atlanta Hawks player Trae Young recently voiced his displeasure with the way Superman was portrayed in the most recent movie rendition. Young, who is well-known for being open on social media, vented his feelings on X on July 21 by writing, "These Superman movies starting to make him look weak or it’s just me??? That’s my favourite superhero, by the way, I’m asking cause I’m really upset." Apart from his comments regarding the Superman film, Trae Young also had to address criticism from former NBA champion Iman Shumpert. Shumpert questioned Young's potential as a great player during an appearance on ESPN's NBA Today, pointing to his size and defensive prowess as drawbacks. He remarked, "At 6’3, it’s tough to say can he switch onto a 5 at the end of the game, can he guard a bigger guard?" Young, undeterred by Shumpert's comments, reminded fans of their past matchup, asserting, "That’s why I let them live… What I did to him on the court when we played, you’d think he’d have more respect when my name gets brought up!" In addition to showcasing his love for the character, Trae Young's criticism of the most recent Superman film sparks a conversation about how superhero representations have evolved.
