Taurama, St Paul’s, Badihagwa Technical, Evadahana win IT was in golden point extra-time that Taurama’s Peter Mathew decisive four pointer that gave them the edge to beat Ted Diro 4- 0 in the NCD Schools Rugby League U15 elimination finals at the Sir John Guise Stadium on Sunday. After being scoreless at full-time and extra-time added,it came down to a golden point to decide the winner, to which Mathew obliged. Taurama will now play Tokarara Secondary in next week’s do or die clash. Both sides played strongly without giving an inch to each other. In the other match that went to extra time, the St Paul’s and Philip Aravure match-up could not find a result, as they were locked at 4-4 at full-time. St Paul’s however managed to land a penalty conversion to claim the 6- 4 win. St Paul’s will now play Gerehu Primary School next week. Badihagwa Technical denied exciting Iobuna 10- 8 in a controversial ending. Iobuna scored first through Junior Ani out wide to lead 4-0 to half-time In the second stanza, Iobuna went further ahead with a try to Mei Uvi to lead 8-0. However, fate was on Badihagwa Technical side as they came back strongly firstly through a Michael Mando try to trail 4- 8, then an equaliser by Tommy So’on at the mercy of the referee, who ignored the full time siren before the try was scored. With the conversion from Andrew Taurume from the side line, proved to be the winner. Badihagwa will now play Laloki in the preliminary final. While Evadahana shattered the hopes of Holy Rosary to win 4- 0 to book a preliminary final spot as well. Evadahana’s Kopil Peter scored the only try of the match in the first half. Peter was later identified as an U17 player and thus was replaced by another player in the second half. His try clinched the do or die victory for Evadahana.
