NCTzen, the wait is finally over! NCT WISH, the sixth sub-unit of the South Korean boy band NCT, is making its highly anticipated comeback. The six-member group—Sion, Riku, Yushi, Jaehee, Ryo, and Sakuya—is set to return to the music scene with a brand-new mini-album. The exciting news was unveiled through their official social media accounts, sparking a wave of excitement among fans eager to see what’s in store.
On March 20 at midnight KST, NCT WISH thrilled fans by officially announcing their comeback as a full unit. The group is set to return next month with their highly anticipated second mini album, Poppop. Speaking of their new mini-album, Poppop will be the group’s first Korean comeback in seven months since the release of their debut mini-album, Steady, in September 2024.
This comeback holds even more significance, as it marks the group’s main rapper, Riku, aka Maeda Riku, first release with NCT Wish since his health-related hiatus. Back in February, SM Entertainment released a statement regarding his return, stating, “Riku, who temporarily halted activities due to health reasons, has been focusing on rest and recovery. We are pleased to inform you that his condition has significantly improved. Based on Riku’s strong desire to resume activities and the opinions of medical professionals, we have decided to proceed with his return to activities.”
The agency also informed fans that Riku would start his group activities once again in March by participating in the 2025 NCT WISH ASIA TOUR LOG and contributing to the making of a new album.
FYI, NCT Wish, formerly called NCT New Team, was formed through the survival show NCT Universe: LASTART under SM Entertainment. The Japanese boy band released a single, Hands Up, in 2023, before their scheduled debut in 2024. Finally, in February last year, the group made their debut with the single Wish in both Japanese and Korean versions.
Apart from releasing a new album, NCT Wish is also going to perform SMTOWN LIVE 2025 shows in Mexico City, Los Angeles, London and Tokyo in the coming months.
