Narrogin Districts Netball Association’s A1 division continued to shape up as a stellar competition with round five taking place at the weekend.
Williams 1 played Olympics Gold on Saturday afternoon, Olympics playing their first A1 game following their promotion from the lower A2 division.
Olympics fought hard and displayed great depth throughout their team.
Their shooters worked hard in the circle, with the new combination of Claire Conlan and Helen Wyatt.
However, Williams were too strong, winning 59-31.
Umpire votes were awarded to Jaime Medlen, Claire Hardie and Denver Henson from Williams, and Tanisha Harper and Helen Wyatt from Olympics.
Undefeated Wagin 1 were up against Wickepin 1 on Friday night, with a few key players missing from both teams, and the excitement was building to see if Wickepin could be the first to defeat Wagin.
Both teams were evenly matched in the first quarter, with combinations on court looking a little different to when they first played in round one.
Wickepin’s young guns Isabella Budby and Georgia Dawes combined beautifully in the goal circle.
Wagin steadied in the second quarter, playing in their usual positions with sharp passing, tight defensive pressure and accurate shooting.
Mid-court duo Fee Pocock and Gaige Kapene kept the ball moving with precise passing.
Wickepin came back with a vengeance in the third quarter.
Dakoda Bolton-Black playing up from A2 was a standout, working tirelessly and proving to be a handful for Wagin’s shooters Lilly Worth and Regina Kickett, applying intense pressure and taking numerous intercepts.
Despite Wickepin putting up a great contest, Wagin came away victorious defeating Wickepin 66-40.
Umpire votes were awarded to Regina Kickett and Felice Pocock, from Wagin, and Dakoda Bolton Black and Sam Harvey, from Wickepin.
