Neighbours actor stuns fans in news segment on shark attack as surprising new career revealed

A former star of the small screen stunned fans when he revealed his new job role. Neighbours star Andrew Bibby, 44, turned his back on fame after leaving his role on Ramsay Street. He had played the character of Lance Wilkinson on the Australian soap drama between 1995 and 2001, with the odd cameo over the years. However, after leaving the role, Andrew largely stepped back from the limelight - until Monday. Fans were shocked when they tuned into 10 News Down Under and spotted Andrew on a certain segment. The former actor appeared on screen to discuss a woman's injuries following a shark attack in Sydney. These days, after stepping back from his acting career, Andrew as a paramedic in New South Wales. And he was on hand to give an update on the horrifying scenes which left a woman with severe leg injuries. In his current role as Ambulance acting inspector, Andrew told the news channel: "She was able to tell us that she felt a strike to the leg very unexpectedly with immediate excruciating pain. Following the attack, Andrew had said: "Where she was was quite an isolated part of the beach, there was only pedestrian access through 50 stairs. But we loaded her onto one of our boards and carried her around about 800 meters to Bundeena wharf where we could load her into an ambulance." Andrew had previously joked about his new career, saying people had labelled him "Ambo Lance". However, he admitted his acting background had actually been a help in his career change. him in his new career, which he's been in for over a decade. He told the Daily Telegraph: "Being able to act like I know what is going on, like I've seen it all before and that everything is okay, actually comes in quite handy. He added: "They will get quite excited when they realise who I am and sometimes look around for the cameras, thinking it is a hoax. I like to think that if a patient can recognise me and want to talk about Neighbours and my former career, then they are not on death's door and things aren't too bad." Sadly, Neighbours may be soon coming to an end for more actors too after news broke that the soap was set to be axed once again. Just two years after its revival on Amazon, the soap is reportedly set to come to an end once more. It was reported that production of will cease this summer. It's thought the final episode set to air at the end of the year, with Amazon reportedly informing Fremantle that their foray into soaps hasn't been successful, leading to a withdrawal of funding.
