Nelly Korda, Maja Stark & a bunch of Epson Tour alumni create history at the U.S. Women's Open

This week, Nelly Korda finished just two strokes behind Maja Stark, who won the prestigious 2025 U.S. Women's Open. Both Korda and Stark hail from the Epson Tour, which is a precursor to the LPGA Tour. Today, the pivotal platform for LPGAT shared a wonderful achievement earned by its alumni.The Epson Tour has given rise to numerous figures in women's golf over the years. Also known as "Road To LPGA", the Tour provides its top 10 players of Race For The Card leaderboard with the LPGA Tour card. Nelly Korda, Maja Stark and other Epson Tour alumnis were competing at Erin Hills this weekend.Among notable names, Stark and Korda were leading the 2025 U.S. Women's Open, with the former ultimately clinching the title. Today, Epson Tour celebrated Maja Stark's U.S. Women's Open win, which marked the 50th Major title secured by a former Epson Tour member. Following that transition, Korda has won two Majors, the 2024 Chevron Championship and the 2021 Women's PGA Championship. Maja Stark, who was a 2022 rookie on the Epson Tour, currenly has one Major championship under her belt.Another Epson alumni, Celine Boutier, won the 2023 Evian Championship. Lilia Vu has won two Majors; she won the 2023 Chevron Championship and the Women's British Open the same year. Hannah Green won the 2019 Women's PGA Championship and Patty Tavatanakit secured a victory in the 2021 Chevron Championship.Maja Stark secured the win in a field that was studded with top LPGA Tour stars like Nelly Korda, Lydia Ko and Jeeno Thitikul. On the other hand, this year marked an incredible improvement in Korda's U.S. Women's Open records.Nelly Korda speaks up amidst U.S. Women's Open loss to Maja StarkAt Erin Hills, the World No 1 women's golfer carded four rounds of 72-67-73-71, finishing with a total of 5 under par. Securing the runner-up spot in a Major where she missed the cut last year was not easy, yet Korda was not happy with the result.After the final round ended, Nelly Korda was talking with the press, where she admitted that it stings to lose the title:"Definitely played pretty well today. Just didn't see any of my putts really drop on the back nine... kind of made a silly three-putt, but then bounced back with a nice birdie... it does sting to come up short..."However, Korda was confident about her dedication towards the work:"...the work that I've been putting in, especially throughout the start of the season, to test it on conditions like the U.S. Women's Open where you're tested mentally, you're testing your game in every department, and to play pretty solid golf shows that I've been working hard..."This was Nelly Korda's 11th attempt at securing the U.S. Women's Open title, and her best performance in the golf Major so far.
