Netflix has finally added the 'addictive' sci-fi series to its roster, allowing fans to binge-watch it over a single weekend for the first time. Originally a Paramount+ exclusive, the live-action adaptation of the popular video game Halo was only available on its own streaming service since its 2022 release, with episodes being released weekly. Now, it's found a new home on Netflix, meaning fans can enjoy the entire series in one go from Saturday (March 1). The show, based on the much-loved Xbox-exclusive video game franchise, follows super soldier Master Chief John-117 and his team of Spartans as they battle against the alien threat known as the Covenant. Its first season scored a respectable 70% on Rotten Tomatoes, while the second series upped the ante with an impressive 90% rating. Pablo Schreiber, known for roles in Orange is the New Black, Den of Thieves and The Wire, took on the role of Master Chief. Despite Paramount confirming the cancellation of the Halo series ahead of a third season, fans are hopeful that if the series proves popular on Netflix, the streaming giant might be convinced to green light a continuation themselves. Many viewers have already expressed their admiration for the show, acknowledging the challenge of successfully adapting such a beloved series. One fan took to the internet to express their excitement: "The Halo show on Paramount+ is everything I could have hoped for and more. As a fan of the Halo series, I was thrilled by how they brought the universe to life. The visuals are stunning, capturing the gritty yet futuristic essence of the franchise. The action sequences are intense and cinematic, especially the battles with the Covenant, which felt ripped straight out of the games.", reports Surrey Live. But it's not just for gamers, as another viewer pointed out: "Production quality is outstanding, on par with Star Wars or Star Trek. I found the first season intelligent, enjoyable to watch and honestly, very addictive." Those who've been following closely loved the depth of the story and character development, noting: "What really sets this adaptation apart, though, is the depth it brings to the story." They added that Master Chief's journey is more personal and emotional, offering a new connection to the character that the games didn't delve into as deeply. Plus, the introduction of new characters enriches the lore, providing long-time fans with fresh content while respecting the Halo world's heart. Halo is streaming on Netflix.
