Netflix viewers are stumbling upon a gripping thriller that's leaving them utterly "traumatised". The 1995 psychological chiller, Copycat, features Sigourney Weaver as Dr Helen Hudson, an agoraphobic criminal psychologist. The esteemed expert turned hermit following a harrowing attack that nearly saw her slain by murderer Daryll Lee Cullum (Harry Connick Jr). J. The film, which has garnered a cult following over the years, also stars Dermot Mulroney, William McNamara, and Will Patton, reports the Mirror . Copycat not only raked in a cool $79 million at the box office from a $27 million budget but also received a thumbs up from critics, earning a 76% rating on Rotten Tomatoes. The film hit Netflix UK last month and it's safe to say it's enjoying a resurgence three decades after its original release. Netflix whetted appetites by sharing the opening scene of Copycat on Facebook, featuring the chilling public toilet attack on Helen by Daryll. Reacting to the "traumatising" clip, one individual confessed: "Man! This scene made me afraid to use public bathrooms. I mean, even to this day I'm still on high alert at rest stops." Another shared a similar experience: "I remember seeing this in theaters. I was freaked out in public restrooms for months!" A third echoed this sentiment: "This scene TRAUMATISED me when I saw it as a teenager, for years and years. I'd always be looking up when using the public bathroom to make sure it didn't happen to me." Meanwhile, some viewers commended the film as a whole, with one stating: "I really liked this, one of the most underrated movies out there." Another concurred: "Great movie, it holds up and I agree no one really talks about it." Not only did Harry Connick Jr's portrayal of killer Daryll Lee Cullum unsettle the audience, but it also had a similar effect on his co-star. In 2024, he disclosed that Sigourney Weaver was so disturbed by his performance that she deliberately avoided him on set. "Every time I came around, she went the other way,. She was like, 'I don't want to be around that guy!'" he revealed on SiriusXM's The Jess Cagle Show with Julia Cunningham. "Every time I came around, she went the other way,. She was like, 'I don't want to be around that guy!'".
