This week (August 25-31), many ongoing K-dramas will air their finales, while newer releases gain momentum with each episodic drop. Lee Dong Wook's gangster romance K-drama The Nice Guy and Yoon Kye Sang's sports drama The Winning Try are set to bid farewell to viewers, while YoonA's Bon Appétit, Your Majesty and Park Hyung Sik's Twelve has everyone buzzing since their premieres last week. My Troublesome Star - Viki Release date: Episode 3 on August 25 & Episode 4 on August 26 My Troublesome Star is a rom-com K-drama revolving around South Korea's top actress who, after getting into an accident, mysteriously wakes up as an ordinary middle-aged woman. She receives some much-needed help from a detective, who has a past connection with the actress. The protagonist navigates her new normal while staging a glorious comeback after losing 25 years of her memories. She's also struck by Cupid's Arrow. My Troublesome Star stars Uhm Jung Hwa, Song Seung Heon, Lee El, Oh Dae Hwan, Jang Da Ah and Lee Min Jae. 2. Love, Take Two - Viki Release date: Episode 7 on August 25 & Episode 8 on August 26 Love, Take Two is a rom-com K-drama centred on a protective mother and her rebellious daughter, who move to a small town to kickstart a new phase in their lives. While the former reconnects with her first love, a single father, their children get tangled in a potential romance. In a brand new environment, the mother-daughter duo learn profound life lessons and strengthen their bond as they encounter familiar and new faces. Love, Take Two stars Yum Jung Ah, Park Hae Joon, Choi Yoon Ji and Kim Min Kyu. 3. My Girlfriend Is the Man! - Viki Release date: Episode 11 on August 27 & series finale on August 28 Based on a webtoon, My Girlfriend Is the Man! is a rom-com K-drama centred on an astronomy student who is head over heels for his pretty girlfriend. His life takes a chaotic turn as his GF suddenly transforms into a handsome man — due to her family genes — who ends up being another popular student's crush. My Girlfriend Is the Man! stars ASTRO's Sanha, OH MY GIRL's Arin, Yoo Jung Hoon and Chuu. 4. The Nice Guy - Disney+ Release date: Series finale (Episode 13-14) on August 29 The Nice Guy is a noir-style romance melodrama revolving around the professional and personal struggles of a gangster family's eldest son, who dreams of a literary future. While on a mission to reclaim his life, the protagonist also reunites with his first love, an aspiring singer struggling with stage fright. However, their rekindled romance finds itself in a dangerous love triangle with a rival chairman. The Nice Guy stars Lee Dong Wook, Lee Sung Kyung and Park Hoon. 5. The Winning Try - Netflix Release date: Episode 11 on August 29 & series finale on August 30 The Winning Try is a coming-of-age sports comedy K-drama depicting the motivational underdog tale of the Hanyang High School rugby team. The bottom-ranking squad's quest to clinch the National Sports Festival trophy is reignited when a former rugby star, who fell from grace due to a doping scandal, returns to his alma mater as their new coach. The Winning Try stars Yoon Kye Sang, Im Se Mi and WEi's Yohan. 6. Mary Kills People - MBC Release date: Episode 8 on August 29 & Episode 9 on August 30 A Korean remake of the hit 2017 Canadian series of the same name, Mary Kills People is a medical thriller drama revolving around a renowned doctor who secretly performs euthanasia for terminally ill patients alongside a skilled plastic surgeon. The lead protagonist is hunted down by an ace detective, who goes undercover as a terminally ill patient with a brain tumour. Mary Kills People stars Lee Bo Young, Lee Min Ki and Kang Ki Young. 7. Bon Appétit, Your Majesty - Netflix Release date: Episode 3 on August 30 & Episode 4 on August 31 Based on a popular webtoon, Bon Appétit, Your Majesty is a fantasy rom-com K-drama that tells the quirky time-bending love story between an award-winning chef from the 21st century, who mysteriously time travels to the past, and the tyrant King of Joseon, who also happens to be a discerning gourmet. Held captive within the royal palace, the chef has to use her culinary prowess to save herself and maybe even rewrite the future. She serves the despotic monarch fusion palace cuisine, further unravelling his taste buds and heart. Bon Appétit, Your Majesty is a fantasy rom-com K-drama stars Girls' Generation's YoonA, Lee Chae Min, Kang Han Na and Choi Gwi Hwa. 8. Twelve - Disney+ Release date: Episode 3 on August 30 & Episode 4 on August 31 Twelve is a superhero K-drama depicting the heroic tale of 12 angels — inspired by the zodiac animals of the East — who inhabit Earth as humans and protect humanity from evil spirits. However, the sealed evil forces break free from the gates of hell and beckon extreme chaos. On the angels' hot pursuit is the vengeful Ogui, a crow-powered fallen angel, who has been awakened after being entrapped for thousands of years. Ogui confront the angels with merciless power, and it's now up to the superheroes and their diverse weapons to save the day. The novice lawyer learns and navigates the challenges of the legal world under the trusted mentorship of her strict but exceptionally skilled and experienced attorney. Beyond the Bar stars Lee Jin Wook, Chaeyeon, Lee Hak Joo and Jeon Hye Bin. 10. My Lovely Journey - Viki Release date: Episode 9 on August 30 & series finale on August 31 My Lovely Journey is a slice-of-life romantic K-drama that follows an ex-idol-turned-travel journalist, who embarks on a self-discovery journey with every travel assignment she undertakes on behalf of others. The main protagonist finds guidance from her former manager and also falls for her assistant, an elite engineering graduate with filmmaking aspirations. My Lovely Journey stars Gong Seung Yeon, Yoo Jun Sang, Kim Jae Young, Hong Soo Hyun and Oh Hyun Joong. 11. Our Golden Days - Viki Release date: Episode 7 on August 30 & Episode 8 on August 31 Our Golden Days is a family romance K-drama depicting how every generation has its own golden era through the lens of a dysfunctional family. The members discover the true meaning of family when they start to understand and share each other's pain and struggles. We also get an intriguing love triangle between an unemployed workaholic, his close chaebol friend and a cafe manager cum interior designer.
