A new British & Lions squad announcement has been made days before the famous touring side get their action-packed summer of rugby underway in Dublin. Andy Farrell's side will take on Argentina in the Irish capital on Friday evening in their first warm-up match before heading Down Under, where they will do battle with Australia in a three-match Test series. Ahead of their clash with the Pumas, the squad have been training in Portugal but have done so with highly depleted numbers. In fact, the first week of training was done with 16 members of the 38-man squad missing as they prepared for the finals of the United Rugby Championship and Gallagher Premiership. That meant that, despite not being named in Farrell's squad, England duo Jamie George and Asher Opoku-Fordjour were called out to the warm-weather camp in Portugal to help plug gaps in training. However, 15 of those absent 16 players will join up with the rest of the squad in Dublin on Monday, with Farrell coming close to finally having all of his selections in camp together for the first time. After Leinster thumped the Bulls in the URC final on Saturday, a huge 12 players from the province will be joining up with the Lions this afternoon, with Jack Conan, Tadhg Furlong, Ronan Kelleher, Joe McCarthy, Andrew Porter and James Ryan making the trip. They will be joined by teammates Dan Sheehan, Josh van der Flier, Jamison Gibson-Park, Hugo Keenan, James Lowe and Garry Ringrose. Bath duo Finn Russell and Will Stuart are also flying in to join the rest of Farrell's squad, having got the better of fellow Lion Ollie Chessum and Leicester Tigers in the Gallagher Premiership final over the weekend. All 15 of the new arrivals will train with the squad on Tuesday, although how many of them end up featuring against Argentina remains to be seen. The huge boost in numbers means that George and Opoku-Fordjour will train with the Lions on Monday but will then return to their clubs. It also means that just one player is yet to join up with the rest of the squad, with Scotland's Blair Kinghorn still on Top 14 duties with French side Toulouse. After sealing the Premiership title at the Allianz Stadium, Twickenham on Saturday, Scotland fly-half Russell said he was now focusing on preparing himself for a busy summer with the Lions. "I’m flying on Monday," he said. "I’m looking forward to the challenge that comes. Everyone is fighting for these Test spots, and then it’s not just getting a Test, it’s winning them. Every session and game before that counts. "The focus from tomorrow is the Lions," Russell added. "How do I get myself ready for what’s coming? When you get there, it’s the best of the best, so you have to be on it every day and take your chance when it comes."
