Newport Coast megamansion with multi-level pool, speakeasy seeks $50M

A Tuscan villa-style estate anchored by a multi-level, infinity-edge pool in Newport Coast’s guard-gated Pelican Crest neighborhood is on the market for $49.9 million. The three-story 13,206-square-foot compound, designed by the “King of the Megamansion” Richard Landry, has six bedrooms and nine bathrooms. Another of its unique features? A speakeasy-style bar with underwater views of the pool through windows between the liquor shelves. Records viewed at PropertyShark show the property is in a living trust. In 2003, the trustee and her late CEO husband built the home on a half-acre lot that boasts unobstructed golf course, coastline and ocean views. The listing provides scant details, but it describes and shows through photos a stone-clad main house with soaring ceilings, grand areas and rooms that flow outdoors. Each level of the house is accessible by stairs or elevator, from the high-gloss lacquered walls of the primary bathroom to the lower level inhabited by the bar, part of a vintage-inspired theater with hand-painted ceiling murals. There’s a temperature-controlled wine cellar, an exercise room, a massage room, a steam shower and lounge areas that “echo the mood of an elite members-only club,” the listing reads. Stone paths run through the lushly landscaped grounds, adorned with mature olive and melaleuca trees and complemented by an abundance of terraces and gardens. A koi pond, detached guest house and 16th-century Venetian fountain add to the villa-inspired setting. In addition to the pool clad in custom Italian glass mosaics, the property boasts a covered loggia with a groin-vaulted ceiling and a fireplace. Josh and Matt Altman of Douglas Elliman are the listing agents.
