Weather watch: Heavy rain alert remains

A heavy rain alert remains in force for Vanua Levu, Taveuni and nearby smaller islands.
An active trough of low pressure lies to the north of Fiji.
It is expected to drift south and affect the northern parts of the country by Thursday.
The forecast to midnight tonight for the Fiji group expect cloudy periods with some showers and isolated afternoon or evening thunderstorms over Vanua Levu, Taveuni, Northern Lau group, the eastern parts and interior of Viti Levu and Kadavu.
Fine apart from isolated afternoon or evening showers and possible thunderstorms over the rest of the larger islands.
Fine apart from brief showers elsewhere.
Moderate to fresh easterly winds and moderate to rough seas.
The outlook for Thursday, occasional rain and few thunderstorms with heavy falls over Vanua Levu.
Cloudy periods with some showers and isolated afternoon or evening thunderstorms over the eastern parts and interior of the other larger islands (Viti Levu, Taveuni and Kadavu).
Fine apart from afternoon and evening showers and thunderstorms over the rest of Viti Levu.
Cloudy periods with brief showers elsewhere.
