Congratulations are in order for Bollywood actress Janhvi Kapoor who has just won Best Actor (Female) at the News18 Showsha Reel Awards 2025! Her impeccable performance in ‘Mr & Mrs Mahi’ has earned her this well-deserved honour. The award ceremony was held at Jio World Convention Centre in Mumbai on 20th March. In ‘Mr & Mrs Mahi’, Janhvi plays the role of Mahima, a doctor who marries Mahendra, played by Rajkummar Rao, a failed cricketer. Mahendra recognises Mahima’s cricket talent, and encourages her to pursue the sport professionally. His insecurities, as he sees his wife getting the spotlight, create tensions between the couple and get in the way of their goals. The film, directed by Sharan Sharma, also features Rajesh Sharma, Kumud Mishra, Zarina Wahab, Arjit Taneja, Yamini Das, and others. The film released in theatres on 31st May, 2024. Janhvi Kapoor left no stone unturned while prepping for this role. She spent hours training in the nets, practicing her cricket techniques. In fact, she dislocated her shoulder twice while filming, due to the intensity of her training. The hard work she put in was also reflected in her on-screen performance, which was lauded by the audience and critics alike. Janhvi faced tough competition for the Best Actress award, with other nominations in the category being Katrina Kaif for ‘Merry Christmas’, Kriti Sanon for ‘Do Patti’ and ‘Teri Baaton Mein Aisa Uljha Jiya’, Shraddha Kapoor for ‘Stree 2’, Kareena Kapoor Khan for ‘Crew’ and ‘Singham Again’ and Vidya Balan for ‘Bhool Bhulaiyaa 3’. Meanwhile, Janhvi Kapoor has some exciting projects lined up. She will next be seen in Shashank Khaitan’s ‘Sunny Sanskari Ki Tulsi Kumari’, opposite Varun Dhawan. The film also features Rohit Saraf, Sanya Malhotra, Maniesh Paul and Akshay Oberoi. Apart from Sunny Sanskari Ki Tulsi Kumar, she will be seen in a romantic drama movie, ‘Param Sundari’, opposite Sidharth Malhotra. She recently wrapped the Kerala schedule of the film. Directed by Tushar Jalota, the Param Sundari will be released in July this year. She also has RC16 with South superstar Ram Charan in her kitty.
