It’s officially draft month, with the first round just a few weeks away. Eyes are on the Giants and the No. 3 overall pick they currently hold.
But will they stay there? The Giants added Russell Wilson and Jameis Winston to their quarterback room this offseason but are expected to address the future of the position via the draft. Cam Ward and Shedeur Sanders are the top two options but could both come off the board before the Giants pick.
In his latest “all trades” mock draft, ESPN’s Bill Barnwell proposes that if that happens, the Giants should trade down with the Carolina Panthers to the No. 8 overall pick. In addition to the eighth pick, the Giants would also receive a second-round pick this year (No. 57) as well as a second-rounder next year.
“That Panthers’ second-rounder could be valuable if the Giants want to flip it later in this draft for a player who can help them this season,” Barnwell writes.
Last week, days after signing Winston as their backup the Giants signed Wilson to a one-year deal worth up to $21 million. With the Steelers last year, Wilson completed 63.7% of his throws for 2,482 yards and 16 touchdowns.
