ORANGE, Ohio Family trouble, attempted murder: Park Avenue, Wall Street Police responded to the area of the Whole Foods market on a report of a person attempting to strike a man with a pickup truck at 7:43 p.m. March 9. Upon arrival, officers spoke with a man who said his brother tried to run him over several times in his Ram truck. He added he was scared the brother -- whose identity and license plate were redacted from the initial report -- was going to hit him and cause him harm, requesting criminal charges. Police reviewed city cameras to see what had been captured and found several clips confirming a Ram pickup truck going over the curb and attempting to strike him numerous times. The brother with the truck was placed under arrest for attempted murder and taken to the Solon jail without further incident. Theft (felony, shoplifting), complicity (aiding and abetting): Park Avenue Police responded to the Pinecrest Nike store on March 20 concerning the theft of more than $2,000 in women’s Tech clothing. A written statement from the manager on duty said two men came into the store at 4:34 p.m., both wearing all-black clothing, hoods and Nike ski masks -- one with black shoes and one with white shoes. After they walked around the store browsing and asking team members a few questions, one of the suspects grabbed $1,395 worth of clothes, while the other absconded with $620 in merchandise. An evening employee was filling in from another store when police got there and was unable to provide additional details or gain access to in-store security video at that time. Police planned to return the next day to watch film with the store’s head coach. Theft: Acorn Trail A resident reported March 24 that her bag of “Lady Edge”-style golf clubs had gone missing from her garage sometime since she placed them there last fall. Having just noticed that morning they were gone, she requested a report for her insurance company and did not know the value or further details about the set and bag. Fraud: Brainard Road A resident reported March 24 that Verizon sent him a letter eight days earlier stating that his account was $112 overdue and that the matter would be turned over to a collection agency with a credit bureau alert. The resident told police he had not opened an account with Verizon and had contacted their fraud department. They told him several months ago that someone had opened an account in his name. The victim needed a police report for documentation to the fraud department. He also contacted several credit bureaus to freeze his credit. Traffic stop: I-271 North A traffic officer clocked a 2018 Ford Fusion going 89 mph in the northbound express lanes, a 60-mph zone at 10:44 p.m. March 26. Making an immediate traffic stop, the officer noticed a partially-full bottle of Tito’s Vodka in plain view on the rear right passenger floorboard. The driver told the officer he’d had a little bit and could still walk a straight line. Cognitive and field sobriety tests indicated possible impairment. Taken to the Solon jail, he registered .105 blood-alcohol content on the breath test, over Ohio’s legal limit of .08 BAC. Police found another bottle of Tito’s, this one empty, and the car was impounded. He was charged with drunk driving, driving under suspension (license forfeiture), speeding and open container of alcohol. He was released on a $1,500 personal bond and was picked up by a family member. Get police blotters by email every weekday for free with our new Police Blotter newsletter.
