No Munster timeline on Jack Crowley contract
@Source: irishexaminer.com
Crowley is out of contract in a few months and with Leicester Tigers dangling a big contract as they seek a top class replacement for World Cup winner Handre Pollard who is heading back to South Africa to join the Bulls, the future of Munster’s out-half remains clouded in speculation and Lawler said there isn’t a timeline. Unfortunately not. Hopefully it will be imminent that we get news soon but look, as I say, I know everybody wants to know but we are just focussing on the game ahead,” said Lawler as they bid to recover from successive losses to Edinburgh and Glasgow Warriors as they head to Mayo to take on Connacht in front of a sellout crowd of over 25,000 at Mac Hale Park in Castlebar. “No update on Jack yet but it's something from a rugby department point of view, we haven't focused on. Jack has come in this week full of beans like he always is, ready to play and we're just worrying about Jack Crowley the rugby player as opposed to what happens off the pitch. Jack will obviously be involved this week, so that will be our focal point." Crowley is back along with the others from Six Nations duty as Conor Murray, Tadhg Beirne, Peter O'Mahony and Calvin Nash return to the fold, while the return of Craig Casey, Jean Kleyn, Thaakir Abrahams and Jack O’Donoghue is also a boost as Munster try to get back to winning ways in the historic game in Castlebar. Munster, no stranger to GAA pitches after games in SuperValu Páirc Uí Chaoimh and Croke Park, will hold their captain’s run in MacHale Park on Friday afternoon and stay overnight in Westport for their Saturday afternoon URC derby with Connacht. Lawler said it’s a boost having so many players back as they try to copperfasten a high finish in the table with just five matches remaining. "Competition is everything, so when competition is stepped up, we become a far better team. It is a boost to get players back like that, and have them hopefully available at the end of the week turns ourselves into a different team, but it also raises the levels of training. "We'll stay in Westport Friday night, and we'll get a captain's run in MacHale Park on Friday and we'll be ready to go Saturday. It’s hugely exciting, 25,000 sellout, it will be something new for both provinces so a really exciting weekend ahead. "We've done our due diligence in relation to what it's going to be and what we're going to face, but it's a little bit of an unknown for us all for a rugby match in that stadium. We'll just take it as it comes, we'll get to see and feel the place on Friday and hopefully there'll be an unbelievable atmosphere on Saturday,” added Lawler. He confirmed that Andrew Smith, who made an impressive debut against Glasgow Warriors last weekend, is not eligible to play on Saturday as he’s on loan from Connacht.
