There's something in the sky in Jordan Peele's spectacular rural thriller
Certificate: 15
The less you know about writer-director Jordan Peele's film before watching the better, because the surprise of how its various strands come together is part of the fun. It's one of those movies that it's more interesting to talk about after than before, rather like Get Out, his Oscar-winning best previous outing.
Here's a primer, though. Daniel Kaluuya (Get Out) and Keke Palmer (Berlin Station) play very different siblings who run a struggling horse wrangling business in rural California, while Steven Yeun (The Walking Dead, Beef) runs a western theme park not too far away. And there's something moving in the sky. That's enough to be going on with, but what follows features some terrific riding sequences and some stunning cinematography, particularly in the night-time scenes. The whole thing feels very cinematic, with moments reminding you of The Wizard Of Oz, Jaws and Close Encounters Of The Third Kind to name but three. There is also a lot of sitting around though, so be prepared for that. (130 minutes)
