Penalty try gets Bunnies on the board first
Uh oh, Lachlan Ilias perhaps lets his emotions get the better of him, and he gifts the Rabbitohs a penalty try.
South Sydney fullback Jye Gray is the lead runner with the ball in goal, after Tyrell Sloan knocks it backwards, and Ilias grabs Gray’s shirt and prevents him from chasing the ball and scoring a try.
Referee Ashley Klein sends it up as a penalty try, and bunker official Kasey Badger agrees.

Ilias free of pressure
Both teams have gotten through their first few sets nicely, and we’re yet to see an error in this match.
But one thing that is noticeable is the lack of kick pressure on Dragons halfback Lachlan Ilias. He’s had plenty of time to kick on each occasion, which seems like a missed opportunity to apply pressure, considering Ilias is coming up against his old club and is still getting reps in after a leg injury last year.
The Dragons, on the other hand, have done a good job at applying pressure to Rabbitohs No. 7 Jamie Humphreys, who is also a rookie at this level.
Kick-off in Wollongong
Our first match of the afternoon is under way, with Blake Lawrie taking the first hit up of the afternoon.
Both Damien Cook and Lachlan Ilias are coming up against their old club for the first time, since getting the tap on the shoulder last year. Let’s see how they handle to pressure.

‘Greatest win as a club’: Injury-hit Roosters savour upset for the ages
By Dan Walsh
Those reports of the Roosters demise? Greatly exaggerated. Just like the famously misquoted Mark Twain line, the legend of this one will only deservedly grow.
Those $11 outsider odds? More like $101. Dominic Young outleaping Dylan Edwards – the safest of all fullbacks? He cleared tall buildings too actually.
No Sam Walker, Brandon Smith, Victor Radley, Spencer Leniu, Lindsay Collins and Nat Butcher on top of more than $4 million in off-season departures? No exaggerating those actually, which is exactly why no-one gave the Roosters a hope in hell against the four-time premiers.
And those that did, even though they’re lying, they certainly didn’t predict a 12-try, 38-32 shoot-out and one of the greatest upsets in their history.

Sloan slots in for Dragons
A couple of changes for Shane Flanagan’s Dragons today, with Tyrell Sloan being brought back into the team on the wing, and Blake Lawrie starting on the field, with Toby Couchman moved to the bench.

How much a beer and pie will set you back at the footy
Who doesn’t love a beer and a pie at the footy?
But when you’re in the middle of a cost of living crisis, it’s nice to know how much your Villis or Four’N Twenty pie is going to set you back, along with the crisp pale ale or lager you wish to wash it down with.

So fear not. Reporter Frances Howe has done the hard work, ringing every NRL Stadium in the country to find out the cost of your classic footy food.

Sea Eagles have ‘no real concerns’ about DCE and Trbojevic
By Christian Nicolussi and Adrian Proszenko
Some news out of last night’s game in New Zealand, where the Warriors caused an upset against the Sea Eagles.
Skipper Daly Cherry-Evans is likely to play for Manly next Sunday after suffering back spasms in last night’s loss, but the Sea Eagles will monitor Tom Trbojevic after he experienced stiffness in his lower back and hamstrings.
The Sea Eagles have also confirmed they were aware of an incident involving Gordon Chan Kum Tong, who clashed with a spectator on Friday night as Jake Trbojevic was sent to the sin bin at Go Media Stadium. The NRL is investigating the incident.
