Battered Dragons hang on to lead at the break
The Dragons are down on troops so they get some help from the padding around one of the goalposts, which adds as an extra defender to stop a charging Demitric Vaimauga from scoring the Warriors’ second try. The Warriors are on the front foot now, though time is ticking down on the final moments of the first half.
But the Dragons’ defence is doing enough – the Warriors’ next set peters out with a wayward kick from winger Dallin Watene-Zelezniak – and they take it into the final minute of the half with a six point lead. The Warriors throw it around as the buzzer sounds and Chanel Harris-Tavita tries a very long-range (and rushed) field goal attempt, but it goes well wide.

RTS magic sets up Warriors’ first try
The Warriors are in at last.
Some real hot-potato stuff from the Warriors gets them their first points, with three set restarts having given them great attacking position. Dynamic back-rower Leka Halasima beats a few defenders and gets a pass away for Roger Tuivasa-Sheck on the wing – the veteran has no space to work with at all but somehow stays infield and flings the ball back infield, and Chanel Harris-Tavita grabs it and scores. Wow.
The kick goes wide but the Warriors are back in this, and the Dragons will surely be up against it in the second half with a one-man bench.

Sele becomes third Dragons knocked out
Oh no. More head injury dramas for the Dragons now, as Hame Sele goes low in a tackle on Dallin Watene-Zelezniak and catches a hip to the head. He’s down getting treatment and looks very likely to join Jack de Belin and Hamish Stewart on the sidelines for the rest of this match.
That’s three Dragons forwards in concussion dramas during the first half – it’s going to create a huge workload for their remaining big men, and probably a bit of a reshuffle as well.

Ford drops it over the line as Warriors go close
A crunching tackle from Chanel Harris-Tavita on Kyle Flanagan fires up the Auckland crowd and gives the Warriors something to smile about at last, and they start to build some momentum in their next set with a couple of six-agains. Former St George Illawarra forward Jackson Ford goes very close to scoring between the posts but drops the ball over the line, while wrapped up by three Dragons defenders.
It’s the best attacking chance the Warriors have had so far.

Feagai in again as Dragons lead by 10
A penalty gifts the Dragons a trip upfield and they are soon in again, Kyle Flanagan involved again as a nice left-side shift puts Mat Feagai into half a gap and he charges past Adam Pompey to score his second.
Flanagan kicks the conversion this time and the visitors are well on top. James Fisher-Harris is penalised in the following set for a lifting tackle and the Warriors are on the back foot again.

Allan try disallowed as Dragons continue to dominate
The Warriors have endured a clunky start tonight and it continues, with an attempted shift to the left inside their own half ending with Leka Halasima losing possession near the left touchline while attempting to stay in the field of play.
The de Belin and Stewart injuries are going to hurt the Dragons later in this contest but for now they have all the momentum, earning two set restarts, and it looks like they’ve gone in again when Corey Allan dives over in the corner – but Hayden Buchanan’s pass to the winger went forward and the try is disallowed.

Double knockout: Dragons lose De Belin and Stewart
Bad news here for Jack de Belin in his 250th NRL game, with the Dragons veteran and teammate Hamish Stewart clashing heads violently in a tackle, and both look like they’ve been knocked out. The two concussions would mean the Dragons can bring in their 18th man, though it’s not the neatest fit with that 18th man being winger Tyrell Sloan, who was dropped in a late change.
Looks like the visitors are losing two of their three starting back-rowers for the rest of this contest, which is barely 15 minutes old. Hame Sele and Jacob Halangahu sub in from the bench.
