After a series of puzzling decisions last weekend, most notably the non-sin-binning of Jarome Luai in the Wests Tigers’ loss to the Warriors on Sunday night, news emerged that the NRL had issued a letter to clubs saying there should have been four players sent for 10-minute breathers in round four. So, if we’ve learned anything in the last 117 years of rugby league it’s this - expect the initial reaction to be over the top before things eventually return to normal a few weeks down the line. Some may see it as unfair, but that’s the territory that comes with being the marquee man on an NRL team. Heading into tonight’s match, Andrew Johns looks at Hynes and what he can expect. “No one is going to feel this as much as Nicho Hynes. He’s already under pressure and no coach harasses opposition halves like Ricky Stuart – which is exactly how Sticky used to play too.” - Andrew Johns Read Johns’ Immortal Kombat column here. Another week (round five) of the NRL starts tonight, with the Cronulla Sharks in Canberra to face the Raiders. Neither side heads into this contest with any great level of confidence. Cronulla were well-beaten by the unbeaten Bullldogs on their home turf last weekend, while the Raiders have quickly turned a 2-0 start to the season into a 2-2 record after four rounds. Prior to tonight’s match we will bring you some news and views from around the NRL and the wider world of sports. Then comes live coverage of what will hopefully be a tense battle.
