What a week
So far, this week, we’ve had: Police enquiries into alleged drug matters, the alleged early provision of team selection news that resulted in a bet, two coaches parting ways with their club, and a team resting 16 players from the side they sent out last week. Oh, yeah, also the CEO of the Papua New Guinea team resigned to take up the top job at the Panthers Group.
For anyone seeking a quick refresher course, here are a selection of articles from this week:

A look at the Bulldogs
Compared to the Panthers, naming a team this week was plain sailing.
Viliame Kikau (skin infection) and Harry Hayes (hamstring) are missing from the team that lost to the Storm last week, with Daniel Suluka-Fifita and Enari Tuala coming into the 17.
After a heavy loss to the Roosters and then a great showing in a losing effort against the Storm last Friday, Canterbury need to get that winning feeling back before the finals start. Provided they perform to their usual levels tonight, it is difficult to see the depleted Panthers preventing that from happening.

A look at the Panthers
As news emerged on Monday that Penrith coach Ivan Cleary was going to rest his stars this week, the big question of how many players would be rested arose.
We learned that on Tuesday, and what a number it was: 16.
Brad Schneider is the only player from last week’s game day 17 who will play tonight, but even that’s a bit of a technicality, as he was an unused interchange for the match in Mudgee.
The likes of Yeo, Cleary, Edwards, Martin, and To’o will be watching from the grandstand tonight. That means we will see David Fale, Luron Patea, Austin Dias, Zac Lipowicz and Billy Phillips in action.
At least the McLean name remains on the Panthers teamsheet - Casey has a night off but Jesse is named to start on the wing.

Hello, sports fans
Welcome to the football part of round 26 of the NRL season. We don’t usually start the blog like that, but after the events of the past four days, it is also worth a reminder to let us all know that actual rugby league matches as part of this sport.
There’ll be time for a look at today’s news and everything from the past days between now and kick-off at around 7.50pm.
Also a bit about one of the more peculiar-looking matches you could hope to see.
