THE Northern Region Soccer League have set themselves to fully implement all the core pillars of Club Licensing to prepare their members for life in the top-flight and international competitions.
In a country where the tenets of CAF Club Licensing are mostly waived only for member clubs to face the consequences when playing inter-club continental tournaments, the NRSL are eager to take a proactive role to ease things up when their members play in the next-level.
NRSL vice-chairman Sweeny Mushonga yesterday said “Look, it is the prerogative of every administrator and every football board to help the country, at any level in terms of ensuring Club Licensing compliance.
“We are at a stage where every grain of effort matters. As the Northern Region Soccer League, we are taking a deliberate move to fix some of the issues to do with Club Licensing.
“We are looking into all those five pillars that include financial, administration, infrastructure, legal and personnel.
“In whatever we are doing, we are just trying to address all these things. In the second half of the season, we have set the minimum required standards for all the pillars. In the end what we want to have is professionalism. Look at one of our recent members Simba Bhora, they will be representing the country in the CAF Champions League this year.
“We are proud to have played a part in their being professional. That’s why we are emphasising on that.”
Meanwhile, the NRSL season enters the half-way mark this midweek with eight matches pencilled for this afternoon while the remaining game will be played tomorrow before the competition enters into a three-week break.
Games will resume on August 2.
But leaders N’ombeyawora will have to be at their best when they travel to Mhondoro for a date against Ngezi Platinum U19 if they could go to the break in control.
They dropped two points in a 1-1 draw against MWOS U19 last weekend allowing Agama to catch up with them at the top after the Mt Darwin side collected a full set of points in their own encounter against FC Oden.
Black Rhinos, who lost a match for the first time this season when losing 0-1 to Chinhoyi Stars last weekend to miss the opportunity to close in on N’ombeyawora host Zambezi G & C at the Heart B Arena.
