NY Giants' Russell Wilson Drops Strong Malik Nabers Praise
@Source: newsweek.com
After wrapping up their spring practice sessions, the New York Giants will soon be back in action for the training camp portion of the 2025 NFL offseason.When the Giants take the practice field once again, they hope to see the QB-WR combination of Russell Wilson and Malik Nabers in action. Although they haven't had a chance to work on their on-field connection just yet, Wilson is confident that his No. 1 target is going to show out as the top wideout in the league next season.At FanaticsFest this week, Wilson made a major claim about his sophomore wideout."It's funny, my locker is actually the same locker that I had when we won the Super Bowl. The second thing is, my locker is right next to this dude, who is the best receiver in the league," Wilson said as he pointed to Nabers.It's no surprise Wilson considers his guy the best in the game. While some might argue that sentiment, Wilson might not be far off, considering the campaign Nabers just put together.During his rookie season, Nabers ended up finishing the year within the top 10 for receiving yards. He caught 109 passes for 1,204 yards. As a rookie, the Giants wideout saw the end zone seven times.Nabers' 2024 season was highly impressive for two key reasons. The first was that he was a rookie. While plenty of rookies have come in and made day one impacts, producing like a top receiver without any prior NFL experience should always be viewed as an impressive feat.The second key reason was the fact that the Giants had no stability at the quarterback position. When the Giants selected Nabers out of LSU with the sixth-overall pick last year, they did it with the belief that Nabers and Daniel Jones could grow into a top QB-WR duo. Unfortunately, the Giants' former first-round passer did not pan out. Jones was benched before getting cut.For the remainder of the 2024 NFL season, the Giants couldn't get consistency under center, but that didn't stop Nabers from producing.The presence of Russell Wilson is expected to work wonders for Nabers. While Wilson is fighting a narrative that suggests his best days are long behind him, the one-time Super Bowl Champion could gain a big boost from playing with the talented 21-year-old Nabers next season.With Nabers currently nursing a toe injury, Wilson and Nabers haven't had a chance to go to work in OTAs or minicamp. If all goes right for Nabers over the next month, he should be back for training camp, putting together his first set of reps with the veteran quarterback.
