In a major crackdown on corruption the Odisha Vigilance Department on Monday unearthed disproportionate assets worth crores from Dayanidhi Bagh Joint Director Soil Conservation and Watershed Development. The raids carried out simultaneously at eight different locations have exposed a massive network of illegal wealth allegedly amassed by the senior officer.
According to official sources Dayanidhi Bag owns a lavish farmhouse spread across 40 acres in Nabarangpur valued at nearly Rs 1 crore. Contrary to expectations the farmhouse is not a modest setup but a sprawling estate pointing to large-scale misappropriation.
The vigilance team also discovered
11 acres of land in Bhawanipatna
A 3BHK flat in Gothapatna Bhubaneswar
A bungalow in Chandrasekharpur
An under-construction house of 3000 sq ft in Nabarangpur
A shopping complex in Nabarangpur with five commercial shops
Financial investigations further revealed bank deposits worth ₹55 lakh large quantities of gold and several benami vehicles registered under proxy names.
This operation has revealed a pattern of illicit wealth accumulation with land and property investments dispersed across the state. Officials stated that the probe is ongoing and the asset evaluation is still underway as the list of questionable holdings continues to grow.
A senior vigilance officer said ldquoThis is one of the most extensive raids in recent months. The scale of asset acquisition by Mr. Bag is staggering and raises serious questions about the misuse of power and position.rdquo
The department is expected to take further legal action following the completion of asset valuation and verification.
