The Nigeria Football Federation (NFF) has celebrated a remarkable milestone in Olympic football history.
The NFF commemorated Oghenekaro Etebo's extraordinary performance during the 2016 Rio Olympics.
Etebo scores 4 goals against Japan at 2016 Olympics
Nine years ago, on August 5, 2016, Etebo etched his name in the history of Nigerian sports.
He scored four goals in a single match against Japan, leading Nigeria to a thrilling 5-4 victory.
It was the first group game for Nigeria and Sadiq Umar scored the opener but Japan equalized.
Etebo scored three of his goals from open play capitalizing on opportunities, and one from the penalty spot.
The NFF posted videos of all four goals from Etebo is the game.
Along with the video was a message that said, "The day @etebo_karo went goals gaga at the Rio Olympics in 2016 vs Japan."
The 2016 team, captained by John Obi Mikel, marked a return to the Olympic stage after an eight-year hiatus, with Etebo's performance standing out after their heroics.
The team went on to claim a bronze medal at the tournament.
