KABUL (Pajhwok): The Organisation of Islamic Cooperation (OIC) and the Indonesian embassy in Kabul have pledged support for the Afghanistan Football Federation (AFF) in promoting sports in the country.
OIC Deputy Representative Khalil Ibrahim Oukor and Deputy Ambassador of Indonesia Ricky Subagja met the AFF president here on Sunday.
The Afghanistan National Olympic Committee (ANOC) posted on X Oukor and Subagja had met with AFF president Mohammad Yusuf Kargar and members of the committee.
At the meeting, Kargar urged Islamic countries to collaborate with and lend support to AFF for further promoting sport in Afghanistan.
Ibrahim praised the ongoing efforts to promote sports in Afghanistan and reiterated his commitment to all-out cooperation in this area.
Subagja reaffirmed Indonesia’s continued commitment to supporting and cooperating with Afghanistan in the field of sports.
The meeting comes at a time when the Afghanistan national team is participating in the AFC Beach Soccer Championship in Thailand. The national side will play Myanmar tomorrow in the qualifiers for the 2027 AFC Asian Cup.
