Bryce Drummond, son of Ree Drummond, had his license revoked after a DUI arrest; the Oklahoma appeals court upheld the ruling despite a dismissed criminal charge
The Oklahoma Court of Civil Appeals has affirmed the 180-day driver's license revocation of Bryce Drummond, the 22-year-old son of television personality Ree Drummond, following a 2024 DUI-related arrest in Stillwater. The civil revocation remains in effect despite the dismissal of criminal charges related to the incident. Drummond, a former Oklahoma State University football player, was arrested on May 11, 2024, after a Stillwater police officer observed the lights of a parked pickup truck activate during a nearby disturbance investigation. The officer approached the vehicle and found Drummond in the driver’s seat. A field sobriety test reportedly revealed signs of intoxication, leading to his arrest on suspicion of being in actual physical control of a vehicle while impaired.Productivity ToolZero to Hero in Microsoft Excel: Complete Excel guideBy Metla Sudha SekharFinanceIntroduction to Technical Analysis & Candlestick TheoryBy Dinesh NagpalFinanceFinancial Literacy i e Lets Crack the Billionaire CodeBy CA Rahul GuptaDigital MarketingDigital Marketing Masterclass by Neil PatelBy Neil PatelFinanceTechnical Analysis Demystified- A Complete Guide to TradingBy Kunal PatelProductivity ToolExcel Essentials to Expert: Your Complete GuideBy Study at homeArtificial IntelligenceAI For Business Professionals Batch 2By Ansh Mehra Also read: 2028 Olympics bombshell: Donald Trump demands gender tests for all female competitors Payne County Special District Judge Susan Worthington later dismissed the misdemeanor charge, ruling that the arrest lacked probable cause. While prosecutors initially indicated plans to appeal, they did not proceed, and the deadline has since passed. However, the arrest triggered a separate civil action through Service Oklahoma, resulting in the Bryce Drummond license revocation for 180 days. Under the revocation order, Drummond was permitted to drive his personal vehicle if equipped with an ignition interlock device, and he could operate employer vehicles without one. His attorney, Ky Corley, challenged the revocation on several grounds, including the legality of the officer’s approach, lack of reasonable suspicion, and whether Drummond had been in actual physical control of the vehicle in a public space. During the appeal, Drummond was ticketed in Osage County for allegedly driving with a revoked license. The charge was dismissed because the revocation appeal was still pending. On August 1, the Oklahoma Court of Civil Appeals ruled that the lower court had not erred, effectively upholding the license revocation. Corley stated his intention to appeal to the Oklahoma Supreme Court. Bryce Drummond, listed as a 2025 graduation candidate from OSU, is part of a prominent Oklahoma ranching family. His mother, Ree Drummond, is the host of Food Network’s The Pioneer Woman. The Drummond family includes state attorney general and gubernatorial candidate Gentner Drummond.(You can now subscribe to our Economic Times WhatsApp channel)
