Ruben Amorim recently spoke on their goalkeeping issues after their bid for Emilian Martinez was rejected.
Manchester United head coach Ruben Amorim has recently addressed their goalkeeping situation, following the rejected bid for Aston Villa’s Emiliano Martinez.
Aston Villa say NO!
As Pulse Sports reported, the Red Devils' attempt to secure Martinez on a season-long loan has been swiftly rejected, as the club scrambles to address their goalkeeping situation.
With Andre Onana sidelined for the Premier League’s opening matches due to a torn hamstring, manager Ruben Amorim is searching for a reliable shot-stopper.
United explored a loan move for the 32-year-old World Cup-winning goalkeeper, but Villa officials dismissed the proposal outright.
What Amorim said
While Onana is close to fitness, Manchester United are still in the market for a goalkeeper, and when Amorim was asked, he did not deny. However, he expressed confidence in the talents currently at their disposal.
"We are always looking to improve the team. And we have some characteristics that we would like to have,” he said. “But again, it depends on the market. It depends on the sales. We'll see. But I'm really happy.
“And I think even when you talk about Andre, you can see the goalkeepers. Even Tom (Heaton) is a learner; he's a different goalkeeper. Altay (Bayindir) did really well, and Onana is going to be better like the other guys that are getting better this year."
