The Oregon Ducks have another name in the NCAA track and field record books.
Senior distance runner Şilan Ayyildiz broke the indoor record for the women’s mile run at the Boston University Valentine Invitational on Saturday, posting a time of 4:23.46.
The 25-year-old Ayyildiz — originally from Istanbul, Turkey — secured All-American honors at the NCAA cross-country meet in November, as the Ducks women finished fifth. She boasts numerous international accolades representing her home country as well.
Saturday’s time is also a Turkish national record.
