Oregon’s Lyndsey Grein earned her second weekly honor from the Big Ten this season.
Grein, who went 3-0 with a 0.00 ERA and 18 strikeouts over 13 1/3 innings in a win over Oregon State and series win over No. 6 UCLA, was named Big Ten co-pitcher of the week.
The junior right-hander allowed nine hits and five walks while holding opponents to a .196 average. Grein threw 5 1/3 shutout innings with eight strikeouts in a 3-1 win over the Bruins on Friday and helped the Ducks secure the series with a three-hit shutout in five innings on Sunday.
The national leader in wins, Grein improved to 25-1 with a 1.15 ERA, fifth nationally, and 170 strikeouts, tied for 16th.
It’s the third pitcher of the week honor for the Ducks this season, with Grein also selected on Feb. 24 and Elise Sokolsky recognized on April 7.
With its first series win over UCLA since 2018, Oregon (41-5, 14-2 Big Ten) moved into sole possession of first place in the Big Ten with two series to play in the regular season. Oregon travels to Indiana for a three-game series beginning at 3 p.m. PT Friday with a game at Notre Dame on April 28.
