Hyderabad: Three days after the Mudigonda incident in Nalgonda, over 30 students of the Mahatma Jyothibha Phule residential school at Lakshmipur in Jagtial fell sick due to suspected food poisoning on Thursday.
In the early morning, a few students complained of stomachaches, nausea, and vomiting. Immediately, the school staff shifted them to the Mother and Child Health Centre.
The condition of six students, aged below 12, is said to be critical.
Similarly, other students, aged above 12, were provided treatment at the school for reasons better known to the officials, according to reports.
The school staff and students celebrated Bonalu on Wednesday and chicken curry was served to the students. However, after three students complained of stomachache, they were shifted to the MCH Centre early in the morning and three others later in the afternoon, the reports said.
The students’ parents were informed about the issue and they arrived at the centre. When the officials and parents checked with students about the food quality, they reportedly complained that it was too spicy.
This is the second such case in a week. On Monday, 30 students of social welfare school at Mudigonda in Nalgonda had fallen sick after consuming dinner at the school on Sunday.
