Packers WR Named Top Trade Target for Aaron Rodgers, Steelers
@Source: yardbarker.com
The Green Bay Packers are absolutely loaded at the wide receiver position after selecting both Matthew Golden and Savion Williams in the NFL Draft, which could potentially lead the Packers to explore trading one of their other receivers. Romeo Doubs has long been a popular choice for the Packers to possibly move seeing as how he is preparing to enter the final year of his deal, and Bleacher Report’s Kristopher Knox has listed Doubs among 10 players on the trade block following mandatory minicamp. Knox then named the Pittsburgh Steelers as a potential landing spot for Doubs, which isn’t too surprising now that Aaron Rodgers is in Pittsburgh. “The Steelers would be an obvious landing spot for the Nevada product if he is on the move,” Knox wrote. “They need receiver depth, and Rodgers has experience playing with him. Doubs’ rookie season coincided with the veteran’s last campaign as a Packer.” Doubs caught 42 passes for 425 yards and three touchdowns during his lone season playing with Rodgers in 2022. Pittsburgh has D.K. Metcalf and not a whole lot of other proven options at wide out heading into 2025, so Doubs would absolutely represent a viable trade target for the club. The question, of course, is whether or not the 25-year-old will actually be available. Doubs was Green Bay’s No. 2 receiver behind Jayden Reed last year, hauling in 46 receptions for 601 yards and four scores. It was actually somewhat of a disappointing campaign based on what Doubs did in 2023, but he still averaged a career-high 13.1 yards per catch. It’s also important to note that Christian Watson is recovering from a torn ACL, which would make the Packers moving Doubs a bit risky at the moment. Perhaps this is something Green Bay can revisit at the trade deadline next fall.
