Pakistan’s Information Minister warns of a potential Indian military strike within the next 24 hours, citing credible intelligence reports. Tensions between India and Pakistan have sharply escalated following a warning issued by Pakistan’s Information Minister, Attaullah Tarar. Citing credible intelligence, Tarar claimed that India may launch a military strike against Pakistan within the next 24 to 36 hours. In a video message released on Tuesday, April 29, Tarar said India is using a recent attack in the Pahalgam area of Indian-administered Kashmir, which killed 26 people, as a pretext for potential military action. He emphasized that any such aggression would be met with a “strong and decisive” response from Pakistan. India has blamed Pakistan-based militant groups for the Pahalgam attack, an accusation that Islamabad has firmly rejected as “baseless.” Tarar stressed that Pakistan would not tolerate any violation of its sovereignty and placed full responsibility for any conflict on New Delhi. He added that Pakistan’s armed forces are on high alert and fully prepared to defend the country. “Any disastrous consequences from escalation in the region will rest solely on India,” Tarar warned. The heightened rhetoric comes at a sensitive time, as India approaches national elections. Some political analysts suggest the rising tensions could be used to rally nationalist sentiment within India for electoral gain. The international community has frequently expressed concern about flare-ups between the two nuclear-armed neighbors, especially in the volatile Kashmir region. Diplomatic efforts are likely needed to de-escalate the situation before it spirals out of control. Given the grave consequences of military confrontation, regional and global stakeholders may need to step in to encourage restraint and dialogue, promoting peace over provocation on both sides.
