Palestinian National Council Urges Urgent International Action to Halt Gaza Genocide
@Source: qna.org.qa
Ramallah, May 16 (QNA) – The Palestinian National Council (PNC) condemned the ongoing Israeli military operations in northern Gaza - particularly in Tel al-Zaatar in Jabalia refugee camp, Beit Lahiya, eastern Khan Younis, and Al-Qarara—as acts of genocide committed in cold blood against Palestinian civilians.
In a press statement, PNC President Rawhi Fattouh stressed that dozens of families have been wiped out entirely amid continued international silence.
Fattouh described the ongoing assaults - by land, air, and sea for over 585 days - as blatant violations of the Fourth Geneva Convention and the Rome Statute, underscoring what he called a systematic campaign of ethnic cleansing.
He criticized the Israeli government’s rejection of all ceasefire initiatives, saying it reflects a serious failure in the international justice system and a stark double standard.
The lack of international resolve, he added, has turned international law into a cosmetic tool that legitimizes crimes rather than preventing them, allowing Israeli occupation to continue its expansionist agenda unchecked.
The PNC called on the international community - particularly the UN Security Council, the International Criminal Court, and human rights organizations - to assume their legal and moral responsibilities and take urgent action to hold Israeli occupation leaders accountable for alleged war crimes against the Palestinian people.
