In a profoundly emotional moment at the United Nations Security Council in New York, the Palestinian Ambassador to the UN, Riyad Mansour, broke down in tears as he recounted the growing toll of Palestinian children killed by Israeli forces since March.Speaking during a special session focused on the humanitarian crisis in Gaza, Mansour’s voice cracked, and tears flowed as he described the suffering of civilians, especially children, in the ongoing conflict. “Over 5,000 Palestinian children have been killed since March,” he said, pausing to regain his composure. “These are not just numbers — these are lives, families, futures stolen.”The ambassador’s emotional plea came as the Security Council once again debated calls for an immediate ceasefire and unrestricted humanitarian access to Gaza. Mansour accused Israel of systematically targeting civilians and violating international humanitarian law, calling on the international community to act urgently to protect the Palestinian people..“This is a test of our collective humanity,” he told the chamber. “How many more children must die before the world says enough?”The reaction in the chamber was solemn. Several diplomats, visibly moved, expressed condolences and reiterated calls for de-escalation and the protection of civilians. However, the Council remained divided on how to proceed, with no unified resolution reached. .The latest conflict has led to a mounting humanitarian catastrophe in Gaza, with widespread destruction, mass displacement, and critical shortages of food, water, and medical supplies. Aid agencies have repeatedly warned of the risk of famine and disease if fighting continues.Ambassador Mansour’s tearful address underscored the urgent human cost of the conflict. It served as a powerful reminder of the innocent lives caught in its crossfire — particularly the children who will never see peace.
