The Education Committee of Parliament is set to commence a monitoring visit to selected Senior High Schools and private universities across the Greater Accra, Eastern, Volta, Western, and Central Regions, starting today.
Phase one of the monitoring exercise will run from Monday, April 28, to Friday, May 2, 2025.
During this period, the Committee will visit Chemu Senior High School, Accra Girls’ Senior High School, Achimota Senior High School, Wisconsin International University College, and Regent University College, among others.
Speaking to Citi News, the Vice Chairman of the Education Committee of Parliament, Joseph Kwame Kumah noted that the exercise forms part of the efforts to assess facilities, academic performance, and general conditions in the selected institutions.
“We need this period to monitor the government’s projects at the institutional levels. So, we will be visiting secondary and technical schools; both public and private, and also some universities. It is just to find out how the system is running and the challenges the students are having.
“We are talking about the double-track system and its effect on the quality of education. So, while we are out, we will interact with both students and teachers to appreciate how our institutions are running,” he said.
