Pat Cummins etched his name in the history books during the 2025 Indian Premier League (IPL) clash between Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH) and Delhi Capitals (DC) at the Rajiv Gandhi International Stadium in Hyderabad on Monday (May 5). The Sunrisers skipper won the toss and chose to bowl first in the do-or-die clash for his side and made an instant impact. After taking a bold decision to drop Mohammed Shami for the playing XI, Cummins took the new ball for the one-time champions in a move that proved to be a masterstroke. The Australian star had an instant impact as he dismissed Karun Nair for a golden duck on the first ball of the match before getting the big wicket of Faf du Plessis in the second over. Cummins handed himself an extended spell and produced the wicket of Abhishek Porel in the third over as the Capitals' top order collapsed. Incidentally, all three wickets fell on the first ball of the over. Pat Cummins Achieves Never-Done-Before Feat Through his memorable spell with the new ball, Cummins etched a new record as he became the first player in IPL history to take three wickets in the powerplay while captaining a side.
