Pedestrian had to take evasive action due to road rage incident
@Source: inverness-courier.co.uk
A road rage incident between two motorists in Inverness city centre resulted in one driver being charged by police with careless driving and abusive behaviour towards the other man behind the wheel. Inverness Sheriff Court was told that 42-year-old Jonathan Brown, of Millburn Road, Inverness felt the other car had forced him to perform an emergency stop as he emerged from Fraser Street onto Queensgate. Sheriff David Sutherland watched dash-cam footage of the altercation where Brown accelerated harshly in front of the other car and the duo then stopped near Eastgate Shopping Centre to continue their verbal exchange. Brown pleaded guilty to the motoring offence which involved a pedestrian having to take evasive action before there was a minor collision which damaged both vehicles. • More court news • More crime news More dash-cam footage with poor sound showed both drivers standing toe to toe outside their vehicles with Brown remonstrating and gesturing. He was fined a total of £740 and banned from driving for two months, as he already had nine penalty points on his licence. Driving carelessly carries a minimum three-point endorsement. Under the totting up procedure, he would have been automatically banned from driving for six months and would probably have lost his job. His lawyer Graham Mann asked Sheriff Sutherland to impose a short ban in order that his client could continue to be employed.
