The woman who was fatally struck by a vehicle while waiting to cross the road at a busy Kelowna intersection has been identified. Brittany Chantel Fraser, 33, was killed at the intersection of Burtch Rad and Highway 97 June 21, and her memorial service is planned for later this week in Cranbrook. Fraser had relocated to Kelowna from Penticton recently. Her mother, Lynn Townsend, said her daughter left a lasting impression on those who met her and that is what she will be remembered for. "She was bright and bubbly. Her laugh could fill a room, and her presence brought energy wherever she went," Townsend said in an email. "She had a way of drawing people in—through her wild antics, her vibrant personality, or the playful, creative ways she connected with those around her. She was always, unapologetically, herself. But like so many bright souls, she also carried heavy burdens." Even then, Townsend said her daughter found ways to share light with the people around her. "That light was real, it was strong, and it made a difference," she said. She leaves behind family, friends and her cat Goliath. Her service will be held at the Cranbrook Fellowship Baptist Church, July 5 at 11 a.m. An online fundraiser has been organized to help offset the cost of the funeral for her loved ones. The crash that killed Fraser was at 3:15 p.m. on June 21 at the Burtch Road and Highway 97 intersection. An RCMP reconstructionist was called to the scene which involved two vehicles. Both drivers remained at the scene and cooperated with police. They were treated at hospital with “undisclosed injuries.”RCMP say speed was a factor in the crash.
