KARACHI (Monitoring Desk): Pakistan fast bowler Haris Rauf said on Tuesday that the people were kept on waiting for defeat to criticise the Pakistan national cricket team.
Addressing a press conference following the Pakistan’s defeat against New Zealand, Rauf stated, “The criticism becomes a matter of routine.”
He rallied behind the fringe players, saying, “There is a dire need to provide complete opportunities to young cricketers.”
Rauf vowed to learn from the mistakes after the Green Shirts got drubbed at the hands of New Zealand in the first two T20Is under the leadership of newly appointed captain Salman Ali Agha, who had just started off his T20I career.
The fast bowler claimed, ‘One day our team will become the best again.”
Earlier, nine Pakistan players will practice at the Lahore City Cricket Association (LCCA) for the upcoming New Zealand ODI series.
According to details, Pakistan ODI captain Mohammad Rizwan, Babar Azam, Abdullah Shafique, Faheem Ashraf, Imamul Haq, Mohammad Wasim Jr, Naseem Shah, Akif Javed, and Tayyab Tahir will leave for New Zealand early in the morning on March 23. The Green Shirts will take on New Zealand in the white-ball series against the three-match ODI series, starting from March 29 to April 5.
Earlier, a dominant New Zealand side cruised to a five-wicket victory over Pakistan in a rain-shortened second T20I at the University Oval on Tuesday, extending their lead to 2-0 in the five-match series.
The match was reduced to 15 overs per side due to persistent rain, but that did little to deter the hosts as they comfortably chased down Pakistan’s 136-run target with 11 balls to spare.
