Former all-rounder Imad Wasim has slammed Pakistan’s performance in the Champions Trophy 2025. According to Imad, who last played for Men in Green in the T20 World Cup 2024, Pakistani fans will lose interest in cricket if the national team players don’t improve their performance. The 36-year-old cricketer, while speaking in a video that is going viral on the internet, said he doesn’t feel like watching the Pakistani team play anymore.
“You got to play cricket like it should be played at. This is not the right way. For me, if you ask me as a cricketer, not even as a Pakistani, as a cricketer, I watch some of the games of the Pakistan team play, and I feel I just don’t want to watch it,” Imad said.

“Look, the interest will lose eventually. People won’t come and watch cricket if we play like this. You must have seen the crowd was full in the England-Australia match (February 22 in Lahore) and how they play cricket. I can understand the solution, what I am telling you. When you go somewhere, you assess the condition, and then you play. But your first instinct is to go out there and attack the opposition. And then, if you lose wickets, then you can assess the condition again, like this is 250, 260, 300 wickets, or whatever. So, your first instinct is just to go out there and attack, not to think like, okay, we scored 250. So, like, we are way behind where the world is,” he added.
Pakistan suffered back-to-back defeats in the first two matches of the Champions Trophy 2025 played against New Zealand and India on February 19 and 23, respectively, in Karachi and Dubai, and the team’s third Group A match against Bangladesh in Rawalpindi got washed out on February 27 due to rain.
The two defeats in two matches brought an end to Pakistan’s Champions Trophy title defence, and the Mohammad Rizwan-led side became the first host nation in Champions Trophy history to end the tournament with a single win.
After a horrible show in the Champions Trophy 2025, the Pakistani team will now take on New Zealand in an away series that features five T20Is and three ODIs.
