@Source: newsweek.com
The TGL is off to a hot start, and so is the Los Angeles Golf Club. But things are about to be shaken up a bit.The Los Angeles Golf Club announced that Tony Finau will join the TGL team on a one-match contract, per a TGL press release. He will play with Collin Morikawa and Sahith Theegala on Monday against New York Golf Club.Justin Rose and Tommy Fleetwood each have a pre-existing commitment, so they cannot play.The TGL rules say that if a "starting" player cannot compete, teams can select a new player to take their place."Tony is one of the most well-liked players in the game and has dedicated significant time and energy to make golf more accessible and available to youth, which aligns with LAGC's efforts," Neal Hubman, Co-Founder and President of LAGC, said in the announcement."We look forward to welcoming him to the LAGC family and helping us secure a playoff berth."Fans love Finau. He is one of the most recognizable names and faces on the PGA Tour.He has six PGA Tour wins under his belt. Finau was also a member of three Presidents Cup and two Ryder Cup teams. The 35-year-old has an 8-7-0 record in those two events.Finau already has three top-15 finishes in 2025, including a T-5 at the Genesis Invitational.Now he gets to take on the massive 65-foot screens in SoFi Stadium as LAGC looks to secure a playoff spot. Finau said he has watched a lot of the TGL matches since the season began and is excited to compete."Team golf is always fun and exciting," Finau said. "Collin, Sahith, Justin and Tommy are great guys that I respect and enjoy being around. I appreciate Los Angeles Golf Club calling me up for this match. I'm excited to get to SoFi Center. The place looks electric, and I can't wait to see it all first-hand and practice with the team. Monday is going to be a fun night."Finau has a lot of personality, so seeing what he brings to the table will be interesting.LAGC is currently second in the TGL SoFi Cup standings. Overall, they are 2-0-1 and have five points, one less than the top-ranked team, The Bay Golf Club.The team fell to Atlanta Drive in overtime during the Presidents Day tripleheader for the league.It will be East Coast vs. West Coast in the first of two TGL matches on Monday on ESPN 2 and ESPN+. They will play at 5 p.m. EST. Then Boston Commons and the Atlanta Drive will face off in the final match of the evening at 9 p.m. EST.The Bay Golf Club will try to stay perfect on Tuesday, Feb. 25, when it plays Jupiter Links at 9 p.m. EST.More Golf: Rory McIlroy, Shane Lowry Confirm Irish Duo to Defend Team Title
