@Source: newsweek.com
Next week, the PGA Tour's sixth Signature Event, the Truist Championship, will be held at the Philadelphia Cricket Club. The field is full of the best players in the world, but with one glaring absence.World No. 1 Scottie Scheffler will skip the tournament as he was not listed in the field released on Friday afternoon.He is dominating the CJ Cup Byron Nelson event, but will not play the week before the second major of the year, the PGA Championship. It is unclear why Scheffler will not play in the Signature Event, but his schedule is busy in the coming weeks.After the PGA Championship, one can assume that he will play in the Charles Schwab Challenge, then the Memorial Tournament, the seventh Signature Event for the PGA Tour.The former Texas Longhorn has not missed a Charles Schwab Challenge since 2019. In his last three appearances, Scheffler finished inside the Top 3. He was T2 in 2024, T3 in 2023 and fell to Sam Burns in a playoff in 2022.Scheffler is also the defending champ at the Memorial, so it makes sense that he would play at that tournament. With a full lineup in the coming weeks, maybe the 13-time PGA Tour winner just needed a week to rest.This year, the Signature Event will not occur at its normal location, Quail Hollow Club, but in Philadelphia instead.Quail Hollow will host the PGA Championship this year, so the event had to change venues.World No. 2 Rory McIlroy will headline the sixth Signature Event as he attempts to defend his title. It will be his second event since McIlroy completed the career grand slam at the Masters in April.More Golf: Rory McIlroy Shares Unknown Heartfelt Masters Story with Daughter, Poppy
