The Philippine athletics team remains empty-handed after the third day of the 26th Asian Athletics Championships in Gumil, South Korea.William Morrison III finished the men’s shot put event in seventh place with a distance of 18.55 meters.In the men’s high jump, Leonard Grospe tallied 2.10m but finished in 11th place as the day’s hostilities ended Thursday.Meanwhile, Daniella Daytana finished in ninth place in the women’s discus throw with 44.03m.The Filipino tracksters are having a hard time making it to the podium.Southeast Asian (SEA) Games gold medalist and Tokyo Olympics sprinter Kristina Knott failed to make it further in last Tuesday’s women’s 100m event due to a false start.Paris Summer Games hurdler John Cabang also failed to make a statement in the Asian tilt after finishing fifth in the heats of the men’s 110m hurdles last Wednesday after clocking in 14.14 seconds.Despite this, the Nationals still have one more day to try and clinch a medal in the Asian Championships.At press time, two-time Olympian Ernest John Obiena is gunning for a three-peat in the men’s pole vault.
