The body of a devotee, who died while on the fifth hill of Vellingiri hills, was brought down by the Forest Department on Friday.
The deceased was identified as Ramesh (42) of Kancheepuram. The body was handed over to the police for conduct of postmortem examination, the sources said.
IPL betting: seven arrested, ₹1.09 crore seized
The Katoor police in the city arrested a gang of seven persons indulging in betting based on IPL cricket matches, and recovered ₹1.09 crore in cash, 12 mobile phones, two cars, and two motorcycles. The gang members identified as Rajesh, Sounder, Arukumar, Nanthakumar, Vipul, Jithendra and Vipin belonging to Coimbatore, Kerala and other States were remanded in judicial custody.
Trader loses ₹9.38 lakh to online fraudster
A jewellery trader has lodged a complaint with the cyber crime police that he and his brother who had a joint bank account had been cheated of ₹9.38 lakh online by a fraudster. According to Manikandan (45), the fraudster had deceived his brother into believing that their bank particulars had to be updated online, and utilising the OTP (One Time Password) shared through WhatsApp, had drawn the amount in different transactions since January.
