The fourth edition of the Plan B FM Inter-Community Soccer Gala was launched today, Friday, August 8, 2025, at Hotel Joecarl, Tema Community 6.
The tournament will be held on weekends (Saturdays and Sundays) from August 23 to September 14, 2025, with 32 teams set to battle it out for the ultimate prize.
The winning team will take home a mega trophy, medals, a set of jerseys, and a cash prize. The second-placed team will receive medals, a set of jerseys, and a cash prize, while the third-placed team will get medals and a cash prize. All 32 teams will receive prizes for their participation.
Speaking at the ceremony, the CEO of Free Minds Communication Company Limited, owners of Plan B FM, Madam Comfort Aniagyei, expressed appreciation to all the teams that participated in the first, second, and third editions. She urged all thirty-two participating teams to play their hearts out to secure the ultimate prize. She indicated that the annual tournament was initiated to help young talents chase their football dreams and to ensure fair competition.
She further called on stakeholders to support the station to ensure that grassroots football is well developed and that young talents are adequately equipped.
The special guest for the occasion, Mr. Kudjoe Fianoo, CEO of Division One football club Accra Great Olympics, commended the management of Plan B FM for the initiative, which he believes will go a long way to revive the dwindling fortunes of grassroots football in Ghana.
The former Chairman of the Ghana League Clubs Association (GHALCA) also used the occasion to charge the players to play their hearts out to catch the attention of scouts and big clubs. He added that he would use the opportunity to scout for players for Accra Great Olympics and promised to reward the best player of the tournament with a handsome prize.
The General Manager of Plan B FM, Frederick Aniagyei, advised the teams to exhibit true sportsmanship to attract football scouts. He also promised that this year's edition would come with more attractive prizes.
Detective Chief Inspector David Oduro, popularly called King Dave of the Tema Community 2 Police Command, advised the teams and their officials to avoid violent behaviour and strictly obey the rules, warning that violations would attract severe sanctions. He cited a recent incident in the Ghana Premier League where a fan of Asante Kotoko was gruesomely murdered during their away game against Nsoatreman, which led to the suspension of the league.
The 2024 winners of the Plan B FM Inter-Community Soccer Gala, Rising Stars, thanked Plan B FM for organizing such a wonderful tournament and for honouring their promise of rewarding winners of the previous edition with 10,000 Ghana cedis and other prizes.
