THE country’s first FIFA Badge Assistant Referee David Sau is appealing to East Fatalekans residing in Honiara and elsewhere in the country and any Solomon Islander at all who is willing to help support soccer development in East Fataleka, Malaita Province, to come forward with assistance. Sau, who is currently hosting a Children’s Soccer Development League in East Fataleka, made the call in an interview with Solomon Star on Monday. “I humbly appeal to anyone from East Fataleka in Honiara and elsewhere in the country and any Solomon Islander who is willing to help support me in my efforts to develop youths through sport to step forward with whatever assistance you can give.” After successfully hosting the Sanguri Soccer event for children in East Fataleka earlier this month, Mr Sau is now hosting a U14, U12 and Girls Open Category soccer development event for Ruru Community High School in East Fataleka and its surrounding communities. This event will be officially opened this week. Sau said the purpose of these events is to foster friendship, instil discipline through the engagement of children in positive programmes at an early stage to nurture them into good leaders and decision-makers for the country. He said he has been spearheading such youth development programmes since the MP for Fataleka, Rexon Ramofafia engaged him for soccer development in East Fataleka in 2022. Sau said a lot of youths from East Fataleka are now participating in Refereeing Courses provided by the Solomon Islands Football Federation (SIFF) because of his soccer development initiatives. Mr Sau also acknowledged the MPA for Ward 14 (East Fataleka) David Solobaerara for his assistance in aiding him with mobile credit top-ups. He said East Fatalekans or any other Solomon Islander who is willing to provide assistance towards these worthy soccer development initiatives for East Fataleka can contact him through his mobile: 7641960.
