Prime Minister Narendra Modi arrived in his home state of Gujarat on Monday, marking his first visit since Operation Sindoor– India’s recent anti-terror operation conducted in response to the Pahalgam terrorist attack. During his two-day trip, the Prime Minister is set to inaugurate development projects worth over Rs 82,000 crore across the state. PM Modi began his visit with a vibrant roadshow in Vadodara, where thousands of locals lined the streets to welcome him. The atmosphere was celebratory, with chants, tricolour flags, and flower petals being showered along the route. Among those greeting the Prime Minister were family members of Indian Army officer Colonel Sofiya Qureshi, who paid tribute by showering flower petals during the roadshow. A student from Zimbabwe expressed solidarity with India, saying: “We stand with India in the fight against terrorism. When they attacked tourists, India responded by targeting terrorist bases, not civilians. We support India.” Another attendee, Deepa, a local student, echoed the sentiment: “We are very happy that PM Modi came to meet civilians. We are proud to cheer for Operation Sindoor. India has not targeted civilians in Pakistan — we stand for humanity and against terrorism.” PM Modi’s Gujarat Visit During his two-day visit, PM Modi is scheduled to travel to Dahod, Bhuj, and Gandhinagar, where he will launch and inaugurate a series of major development projects. On May 26, the Prime Minister will visit Dahod to dedicate a new Indian Railways electric locomotive manufacturing plant to the nation. He will also flag off the first 9000-HP electric locomotive produced at the plant and inaugurate development projects worth over ₹24,000 crore. These include railway initiatives, new train services, and infrastructure projects by the Gujarat government. Later in the day, PM Modi will reach Bhuj, where he will lay the foundation stone and inaugurate development projects worth over ₹53,400 crore. Key initiatives include power transmission projects linked to the Khavda Renewable Energy Park, thermal power and port projects, as well as new road, water, and solar energy works. On May 27, the Prime Minister will be in Gandhinagar to commemorate 20 years of Gujarat’s Urban Development Vision. He will launch the Urban Development Year 2025, inaugurate multiple urban, health, and water-related projects, and release ₹3,300 crore to urban local bodies under the Swarnim Jayanti Mukhyamantri Shaheri Vikas Yojana. Over 22,000 new homes under PMAY will also be dedicated to the public.
