PM Orban claims US money went toward undermining governments worldwide, Hungary too

BUDAPEST, February 10. /TASS/. The recent disclosure by President Donald Trump about where US foreign aid went shows that the funds were used to overthrow unwanted governments in other countries, including Hungary, Prime Minister Viktor Orban said, noting that "a grandiose scandal is unfolding in America."
"The US president has decided to reveal who received money and how much was allocated by various government agencies in recent years. It turned out that the liberal world elite used the budget and the US government to pursue their financial and ideological goals with American involvement worldwide," Orban wrote on his Facebook page (banned in Russia, owned by Meta Corporation, recognized as extremist in the country).
"It was supposed to be assistance, but in reality, it was a tool of political influence. On one hand, they received money from Soros foundations, and on the other, from the official US state budget. They used these funds to finance activities aimed at destabilizing society, promoting immigration, undermining the institution of the family, and spreading gender ideology worldwide," the prime minister specified.
According to Orban, the money was used to sponsor opposition media outlets and non-governmental organizations (NGOs). "All of this reinforced the left's power. All of them received this money with the aim of overthrowing the government," Orban concluded.
Earlier, he promised that the Hungarian government would not allow foreign funds to be used for political purposes in Hungary and vowed to take action against anyone who chose to do so anyway, calling them "foreign agents." Orban welcomed the Trump administration's decision to suspend the work of the US Agency for International Development (USAID), through which foreign aid programs received funding.
