Soccer: TWO PNG Kapul players, Simon Emmanuel and Yagi Yasasa, have arrived safely in Melbourne, Australia to join Bendigo City FC in the State 5 Victorian Football League this season
Player agent and former PNG forward George Slefendorfas said the duo have arrived in Melbourne and were set to go into training.
Part Lithuanian and Papua New Guinean, Slefendorfas played for PNG national team in 2014.
He lives in Brisbane, Australia.Slefendorfas runs a player agent call @Playerpin_Management where they create pathways for young ambitious players who want to further their football career overseas Slefendorfas said: “I know Emmanuel (Simon) from the PNG national team when I was playing for them.
“Yagi (Yasasa) I met when the PNG National team was playing and training in Brisbane.”He said he was fortunate to play 11 years as a semi pro.
“I want to give back and help those talented Papua New Guineans who are interested in challenging themselves,” he said.
Beside Australia, Slefendorfas played in Sweden and New Zealand before retiring.The PNG Football Association is excited about the news stating that such opportunities will greatly assist PNG players broaden their experience on the international front.
